The wood used in the furniture pieces is sourced close to home, from fallen walnut trees – a testament to Eero’s conviction not to waste what is dropped into humankind’s hand. The movement of the furniture pieces is dictated by the way wind, sun and water shaped the tree before they fell. In his creative process, Eero seeks for the concrete truth of nature’s expressive potential – which isn’t always found in traditional beauty. The pursuit of achieving better results is constant, regardless of the piece he is creating, thus always seeking to challenge and improve the designs and craftsmanship. Furniture needs to be used, yet it shapes the space we live in. As such, they can be conduits for our emotions, our connection to the natural world, therefore the first and last question to ask is whether or not this has been achieved, as an artist and as a maker.
